TAYLOR SWIFT’S ‘FOLKLORE’ ALBUM BREAKS STREAMING RECORDS – (07/27/2020)

folklore, Taylor Swift’s new, surprise, album, has already broken a string of streaming records.

folklore sold over 1.3 million copies around the world within the first 24 hours of its release. The album also broke records on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music. folklore created a new record for first day album streams on Spotify by a female artist, with 80.6 million streams. Similarly, the record has also become the most-streamed album on Apple Music in 24 hours, achieving 35.47 million streams in a single day.

folklore also created a new benchmark on Amazon Music, setting an indie/alternative streaming record in the US and worldwide.

After making the surprise announcement Thursday morning, Swift officially released her eighth studio album, along with a music video for her new single “Cardigan.”

Meanwhile, Taylor gifted the late Kobe Bryant’s 17-year-old daughter Natalia Bryant with a cardigan sweater in honor of the release of “Folklore.” The wardrobe staple is a replica of the one Swift wears in the video for “Cardigan.”

The teen told Swift she was “obsessed” with the new album, which Swift has promoted by sending sweaters to the likes of stars like Jonathan Van Ness and Jennifer Hudson.

Embroidered with light gray stars on the elbows and featuring title patches on the front, the piece is for sale along with the digital album on Swift’s personal website for $49.

DOJA CAT REVEALS SHE TESTED POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS: Doja Cat has spoken out about being diagnosed with COVID-19. The rapper says she is feeling better now, but experienced four days of coronavirus symptoms. “I got COVID,” she said on Friday while being interviewed over video with the U.K.’s Capital XTRA. “Honestly, I don’t know how this happens but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates, and I don’t know how I got it but I got it.” “I’m OK now. It was a four-day symptom freak-out but I’m fine now,” she added. The artist, who lives in LA, faced criticism for downplaying the virus during an Instagram Live session in March. “I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona,” Doja Cat previously said to her Instagram followers. “You just take some Mucinex and drink water and tea and sleep – that’s all you gotta do.”

MEL GIBSON HOSPITALIZED FOR CORONAVIRUS IN APRIL – (07/27/2020)

Mel Gibson landed in the hospital for a week in April after testing positive for COVID-19, his rep tells People. The 64-year-old “ tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital. He was treated with the drug Remdesivir, while in the hospital, and has tested negative numerous times since then as well as positive for the antibodies.”

He was hospitalized in L.A. He was spotted out at a grocery store in California with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross in March. The pair welcomed their first child together in 2017, which was Gibson’s ninth and Ross’ first. 

Gibson kept his battle private. He became sick just a few weeks after Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson went public with their coronavirus. 

Several other stars have also shared their COVID diagnoses, including Tony Shalhoub, George Stephanopoulos, Lesley Stahl, Pink, Prince Charles, Chris Cuomo, Daniel Dae Kim, Debi Mazar, Andy Cohen, Idris Elba and Harvey Weinstein. Others have died, including Roy Horn and John Prine
