KEVIN HART RESPONDS TO OUTRAGE OVER ELLEN DEGENERES’ SUPPORT – (01/07/2019)

Ellen DeGeneres welcomed Kevin Hart onto her show Friday, and her support for him and his potential reinstatement as Oscar host has earned serious blowback on social media. Hart was forced to weigh in himself, and per the latest, he reportedly does not intend to return to host the Oscars (even if the Academy wanted him).

Hart of course famously stepped down for his 2019 Oscars host post after homophobic tweets sent out years ago were resurfaced.

DeGeneres, who is gay, says she is actively campaigning to have him reinstated. She told Hart: “I called [The Academy], I said, ‘Kevin’s on, I have no idea if he wants to come back and host, but what are your thoughts?’ And they were like, ‘Oh my God, we want him to host. We feel like that maybe he misunderstood or it was handled wrong or maybe we said the wrong thing but we want him to host. Whatever we can do we would be thrilled. And he should host the Oscars.’”

CRITICISM

Several LGBTQ activists expressed their disdain for DeGeneres’ position. Wrote prominent activist Deray: “I expected Ellen to actually ask Kevin Hart some sort of challenging question. Anything, really. But instead, it was just one long monologue from Kevin interspersed with Ellen’s approval. That interview made me miss the previous talk show hosts that asked tough questions.”

CNN journalist Don Lemon also denounced Hart and DeGeneres, to which Hart seemed to respond to in an Instagram post, writing: “Basketball players aren’t great until they LEARN how to play the game correctly … A news anchor or journalist does not start at the top…they have to LEARN to develop to be great at their job.”

MIKE POSNER TO ‘MOVE ON’ BY WALKING ACROSS THE U.S. – (01/07/2019)

Mike Posner is ready to “Move On” by walking across the United States.

Posner made the announcement in the video for his new single, “Move On,” which details his struggles since he released the hit “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” in 2015.

In the video, which features clips from over the past few years as well as typed messages from Mike, the singer talks about the emotional lows he’s taken over the past few years: His dad died of brain cancer, he broke up with his girlfriend, and his pal Avicii, who he name checked in “Ibiza,” also passed away. Mike goes on to admit he’s been sad and “feeling off,” but he’s “tired of moping around.”

So he’s decided to start walking across the country on March 1st – a feat that will take him about a year to complete.

He tweeted: “I’m excited to announce that starting March 1, 2019, I will be walking across America. I will start at the Atlantic Ocean and end at the Pacific ocean. The journey will take me most of my 31st year. You are welcome to join at any time. See you out there.”

“Furthermore, I will be attempting to practice deep listening on The Walk,” he continues. “What does this mean? i will be spending periods of my walk compassionately listening to people with as much of my full attention as possible. Here goes!”

“Move On” is featured on Mike’s upcoming new album, A Real Good Kid, which comes out January 18th.

KENDALL JENNER’S ‘BRAVE’ ANNOUNCEMENT OF HAVING ACNE UNDERWHELMS – (01/07/2019)

After Kendall Jenner and mom Kris Jenner teased that the model had a big announcement to make, fans were theorizing what the reveal could be.

Two days later, the 23-year-old’s new partnership with Proactiv debuted during E!’s live Golden Globes red carpet coverage last night and Twitter users were underwhelmed.

Matriarch Kris Jenner had teased big news from her daughter on Instagram Saturday by praising the supermodel “for being so brave and vulnerable.” She described it as Jenner’s “most raw story” yet and said “be prepared to be moved.” The next day, Jenner opened up about her battle with acne and revealed her new partnership with skin care company Proactiv, a year after the reality star’s acne was visible on the Golden Globes red carpet.

“I remember going online and seeing all the horrible things people were saying about me and my skin,” Jenner said in a commercial for Proactiv, which aired during the Golden Globes red carpet show. “I felt so good (that night) that I forgot that I had bad skin.” Social media users were not moved by Jenner’s revelation.

One fan tweeted, “I wish I could get a refund on the time I spent thinking of what the Kendall Jenner announcement would be.”

“ACNE IS NOT THE THING I WANTED TO HAVE IN COMMON WITH KENDALL JENNER,” another user wrote.

Other users, however, sent the reality star support. “Kendall Jenner is so brave for coming out as an ambassador for Pro Activ,” one fan tweeted.

“OMG can’t believe Kendall had to suffer with acne in silence for so long…… so brave….. thank you for coming forward and sharing your story @KendallJenner,” another fan penned, adding the hashtag “#changetheconversation.”

Shortly after, Jenner followed her tweet about her acne with another post that really drove home why a few pimples didn’t stop her from attending the Golden Globes: “honored and humbled to be able to attend the Golden Globes with @voguemagazine . my eyes were opened and my heart is full seeing all of the men and women who were a part of this vital change! i  too stand with all women #TimesUp”
