MTV VMAS 2020 NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED – (07/31/2020)

MTV has unveiled the nominations for their annual Video Music Awards.

Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the nominations with nine each. Billie Eilish and The Weeknd earned the next most, with six nominations each, while Taylor Swift was just behind them all with five nominations.

This year’s event will air live on August 30th and feature brand new categories, including “Best Music Video From Home” and “Best Quarantine Performance.”

Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Quarantine Performance,” and more at www.mtv.com/vma through August 23rd. Voting for “PUSH Best New Artist,” presented by Chime Banking, will remain active into the show on August 30th.

TAYLOR SWIFT REBRANDS HER ‘FOLKLORE’ MERCH AFTER A BLACK BUSINESS OWNER CALLS HER OUT: Taylor Swift and her team took swift action after they were accused of copying the logo of a Black-owned business on merchandise for her new album “folklore.” Amira Rasool, founder of the online retailer The Folklore, accused Swift last week of selling merchandise that ripped off the logo of her company, which sells apparel, accessories and other products by designers in Africa and the diaspora. Rasool shared photos on Twitter and Instagram that showed cardigans and sweatshirts with the words “The Folklore Album” for sale on Swift’s website. Swift responded immediately after being contacted by Rasool’s attorneys, removing “The” from her brand’s name.

LADY GAGA TO ELOPE?: Lady Gaga has been engaged twice, but both engagements ended before she walked down the aisle. Now, she is reportedly is going to skip the engagement and go straight to the wedding. An insider tells OK! that Gaga plans to elope to Las Vegas with entrepreneur Michael Polansky, her boyfriend since December of 2019. The insider claims the couple, who made it Instagram official on Super Bowl Weekend, plan a short ceremony at a Vegas chapel, during which Gaga will sing a new song to her groom. A “wild party and some gambling” will follow.

NICKI MINAJ’S HUSBAND ASK JUDGE FOR PERMISSION TO BE AT CHILD’S BIRTH- (07/31/2020)

Nicki Minaj‘s husband Kenneth Petty has asked the judge to allow him to be at the hospital when his wife gives birth to their child. According to TMZ, Petty submitted legal docs, asking the judge to modify the terms of pretrial release conditions so he can travel with Nicki periodically on business as her manager and attend the upcoming birth of their baby.  Kenneth said the U.S. Attorney’s Office and pretrial services office don’t oppose his request, so now it’s up to the judge to sign off. 

As previously reported, Kenneth had to register as a sex offender in the state of California as he was arrested for failing to do so when he moved there with Nicki.  The terms of his pretrial release includes that Kenneth Petty has a curfew and his travel is restricted to California.
