Last week, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also joined the protesters, who are aiming to halt construction on the land they consider sacred. The actor, who is of Samoan descent, once lived in Hawaii.

Other celebrities lending their support include musician Jack Johnson, Jason Momoa and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The billion-dollar telescope project is part of a new planned observatory funded by companies and schools around the globe to see further than ever out into space.

LEONARDO DICAPRIO, KATY PERRY & MORE FLOCK TO CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT IN PRIVATE JETS – (08/01/2019)

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the billionaire founders of Google, have invited Hollywood A-listers, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Katy Perry, plus Prince Harry, President Barack Obama and many others, to the Sicilian seaside for a three-day event focused on climate change.

Page Six reports that many of the guests, including DiCaprio, who has a climate change foundation, are expected to show up via private jet. Per the Post, 114 flights from L.A. to Palermo, Italy, would send 100,000 kilograms of CO2 into the air.

“There will likely be discussions about online privacy, politics, human rights, and of course, the environment, which makes it highly ironic that this event requires 114 private jets to happen,” a source griped.

Other stars set to attend include Harry Styles, Sting, Chris Martin, Elton John, Orlando Bloom, Diane von Furstenberg and Barry Diller. Some of them are also arriving via yacht. Perry was seen tooling around the island in a Maserati SUV that gets 15 mpg.
