Katy Perry is backing a fundraiser for a young boy with a degenerative disease. Perry says her heart was “touched” by the plight of six-year-old Carter, who is suffering from progressive brain disorder Sanfilippo Syndrome, which is often referred to as Childhood Alzheimer’s and will see him eventually lose the ability to walk, talk or swallow, as well as have seizures and suffer dementia, and urged her fans to donate to a fundraising campaign for a clinical trial.

She posted on Twitter: “ My [heart] was touched by Carter’s story. If you’re able pls help w/ his chance to defeat Childhood Alzheimer’s. He’s SO close to funding his clinical trial & I would love to see my KatyCats kick it over the goal & make that difference! I’m donating now too! https://www.gofundme.com/savingcarter.”

A donation for $1,000 is listed on the page in Katy’s birth name, Kathryn Hudson.

The youngster’s parents, Jen and Samir, are aiming to raise $1 million in a month in order to fund the trial and, at press time, they have received donations totaling over $988,000.

‘STAR WARS’ ACTOR AHMED BEST SAYS HE CONTEMPLATED SUICIDE AFTER BACKLASH – (07/05/2018)

Ahmed Best says his career-changing role as Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels almost killed him.

Best says he is considering doing a solo show for next year’s 20thanniversary of the George Lucas-helmed Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. He took to Twitter to share his thoughts on his tumultuous journey through the Star Wars universe.

He wrote: “20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today. This was the place I almost ended my life. It’s still hard to talk about. I survived and now this little guy is my gift for survival. Would this be a good story for my solo show? Lemme know.”

The response was overwhelmingly positive, with Muppets icon Frank Oz, a key figure in the Star Wars franchise (he is the actor behind Yoda) writing: “I LOVED Jar Jar Binks. I know I’ll get raked over the coals for saying that but I just will never understand the harshness of people’s dislike of him. I do character work. He is a GREAT character! Okay. Go ahead. Shoot. Gimme all ya got—but you’ll never make me change my mind.”
