THE WEEKND IS HEADLINING THE 2021 SUPERBOWL LV HALFTIME SHOW – (11/13/2020)

The Weeknd is set to headline the 2021 Halftime show for Super Bowl LV. The Super Bowl LV will take place in Tampa, Florida on February 7th. The Weeknd said in a statement, “We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl, and one can only dream of being in that position. I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”

Roc Nation and Jay Z will produce the halftime show. Jay-Z said in a statement, “The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own. His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry.”

SAM SMITH’S ‘STAY WITH ME’ SURPASSES 10 MILLION IN SALES AND STREAMS – (11/13/2020)

Sam Smith’s 2014 breakthrough single, “Stay With Me,” has surpassed 10-million in song sales and streams, earning RIAA Diamond certification.

The song is from their album, In The Lonely Hour, which won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. They were also named Best New Artist that year.

In addition, Smith has earned a host of new certifications. In The Lonely Hour is now 5X Platinum, while The Thrill of It All, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017, has been certified Platinum.

When “Stay With Me” was released, it became a worldwide hit, debuting at #1 on the U.K. chart and topping charts in numerous countries. In the U.S., it was played across eight radio formats and climbed to #1 on five formats.

HALSEY’S NEW BOOK TOUCHES ON HEAVY TOPICS – (11/13/2020)

When Halsey released a poetry collection, she surprised a lot of people, but in an interview posted on Billboard.com she says that she “writes all the time and some things you can’t sing.”

Halsey said that she just wanted to let people have it and get to know more about her. She said, “You know, as a musician, I really don’t know when I’m gonna be allowed back on a stage again. And that makes me very sad.” In the interview, she also revealed that her book of poems touches on heavy topics, from going through a miscarriage to surviving sexual assault.

JUSTIN BIEBER’S ‘ROCKIN’ AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE’ ADDED TO AMAZON HOLIDAY COLLECTION – (11/13/2020)

Justin Bieber’s version of Brenda Lee’s 1958 classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” is part of the new Amazon collection of holiday tunes. About the song he said, it “has always been one of my favorite songs to celebrate the holidays, and I’m excited to team up with Amazon Music to share my own version, with my fans.”

According to Bieber, proceeds will go to charity. He stated that he was thankful to “use this opportunity to give back to LIFT, Inner-City Arts and Alexandria House: three incredible organizations that I’ve supported in the past.”

The Amazon holiday collection also features, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige, and others. Justin Bieber performed earlier this week on the Country Music Awards with Dan + Shay and this weekend he will perform on The People’s Choice Awards.

SELENA GOMEZ WILL STAR AS FAMOUS LGBTQ MOUNTAINEER IN NEW FILM – (11/13/2020)

Selena Gomez has accepted the leading role in the upcoming film, In The Shadow Of The Mountain. It’s based on Vásquez-Lavado’s upcoming autobiography of the same name. The film will tell her life story, including how she survived sexual abuse while growing up in Peru.

The movie will also show how she became the first openly LGBTQ+ woman to complete the climbs of the Seven Summits, the tallest mountain on each continent. It will also tell the story of how she became the first Peruvian woman to climb Mount Everest. The film is set to debut in the winter of 2022.
