‘FREAKY’ TOPS B.O. WITH $3.7M – (11/16/2020)

Universal/Blumhouse’s Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn, came in lower than expected with $3.7 million. Still, in a pandemic-challenged market, the film still managed to dominate the box office.

The No. 1 results for movies since Columbus Day have all come in between $3.6M-$4M. Over Thanksgiving, observers will be watching results as DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods: A New Age bows with a full array of PR and support, which many recent releases have been missing.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis are splitting up after being engaged for seven years. The 36-year-old Booksmart director and 45-year-old Ted Lasso star share Otis, 6, and Daisy, 4. An insider tells People: “The split happened at the beginning of the year. It’s been amicable and they’ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine. The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship.”

They started dating in November, 2011 and he proposed after the holidays in 2012. 

Sudeikis told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show of their courtship: “I actually came off looking a little cooler than I really am because I had heard through the grapevine, through mutual friends who weren’t exactly her best girlfriends, who would report back, ‘Oh you know, I think she’s dating someone.’ So I didn’t make any moves. I was just very, very busy with other things. And next thing you know, I stopped being busy, she stopped dating someone, and then it was off to the races.”

Twitter reacted with horror. Wrote one: “Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis broke up so can someone please check on Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively? They’re our last chance at believing in love.”

They were last spotted in September at the beach, mid-PDA. Wilde was spotted post-break-up, keeping it casual in a tan coat, white pants and a black face mask. She appeared to be doing shopping in L.A.

In a social media post over the weekend, Wilde reflected on her love for their kids, dubbing them “my everythings” on her IG Story.

POLICE ARREST MAN WHO THEY SAY ATTACKED RICK MORANIS: A month after Rick Moranis was the victim of a random street attack, police arrested a suspect. “Thanks to an eagle-eyed sergeant from @NYPDTransit, this suspect has been apprehended and charged,” the New York Police Department tweeted on Saturday.

BRAD PITT WINS LEGAL BATTLE: Brad Pitt is victorious in his bid to get a $100K suit against him thrown out. Kelli Christina sued him for being scammed out of $40K by a con artist posing as Pitt. While she eventually figured out she wasn’t being conned by Pitt, she still sued him, and claimed in court docs that he should have done more to protect fans from imposters. A judge granted Pitt’s wishes in Texas court, dubbing her claims “meritless” in papers seen by Page Six. Christina told the paper she would appeal.

JONATHAN SCOTT RESPONDS TO ZOOEY DESCHANEL ENGAGEMENT RUMORS: Will they or won’t they? HGTV star Jonathan Scott told Sirius XM’s The Covino and Rich Show that he and Zooey Deschanel are not engaged. He joked, “I’m pretty confident that I will ask my girlfriend to marry me before I tell a reporter.” Scott added: “We were actually laughing because almost every story that comes out is ‘Drew Gives Permission for Jonathan to Wed Zooey’ or ‘Drew Gives His Nod to the Relationship.’ And so we coined the phrase, we were laughing, we’re like, so is Drew my ‘Brother-Daddy?’ Does he have to approve everything that happens in my life?”


Katy Perry will perform “Only Love” from her most recent album, Smile, at the 2020 American Music Awards

Her appearance will mark the ten-year-anniversary of her AMA debut performance of “Firework”. 

In addition to Perry, the performance lineup also includes Bad Bunny with Jhay Cortez, Billie Eilish, BTS, Dua Lipa, Jennifer Lopez and Maluma, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, and Shawn Mendes.

The AMAs, hosted by Tarji P. Henson, will broadcast live from The Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. EST/ PST.


Dua Lipa will be a playable character in FIFA 21.   

Stereogum reports that the latest installment of the game is getting a new update  that will include some celebrity players like David Beckham and Dua Lipa. 

Additionally, a track from the singer’s Club Future Nostalgia remix album — the Blessed Madonna’s remix of “Love Is Religion” — is featured on the FIFA 21 soundtrack.
