Jackson Covered Bridge Reopened After Saturday Accident

JACKSON, NH – New Hampshire transportation officials have reopened the iconic Jackson covered bridge after a weekend accident.

Officials with the department of transportation said a vehicle crashed into a support and first truss of the Honeymoon Covered Bridge on Saturday. T

he bridge, which is at the intersection of routes 16 and 16A, was closed over the weekend. DOT officials reopened the bridge at around 1pm yesterday, saying that they made temporary repairs which has allowed the bridge to be safely reopened to traffic for the usual passenger vehicles only.

Bartlett Police said that the driver of the vehicle was an 18-year-old woman from Conway. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, had failed to negotiate the village exit of the bridge striking the support beam and rolling the vehicle onto it’s drive side coming to rest inside the bridge.

The driver luckily only suffered minor cuts and bruises.

Authorities said that they don’t believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash but speed and driver distraction were.

Police said that no charges have been filed against the teen yet but they could be depending on evidence.

WOLFEBORO, NH – A Rochester woman was arrested for scamming a scammer in Wolfeboro. Wolfeboro Police said that in March a Wolfeboro resident had reported having their identity stolen and the hacker had purchased a laptop using the victims business account. The scam had been perpetrated by someone in another country, who then turned to a shipping scam to get the computer shipped to them.

51-year-old Jennifer Wozmak, who was not affiliated with the scammer, was contacted via the internet for a “job opportunity” in which she was paid to pick up the package at UPS and then reship it to another location.

Wozmak allegedly picked up the package at the UPS in Laconia, but instead of shipping the computer Wozmak allegedly filled a shipping box with magazines and kept the computer.

Police said that Wozmak admitted to taking the computer and selling it.

She was charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking and was released on $1000 personal recognizance.

Incredibles 2 is also racking up the receipts, earning $45.5 million in its third weekend out, for a global tally of $647 million.
