The 18th Annual Magic Holiday Food Drive is Tomorrow, November 20th!

The 18th Annual Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Food Drive is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20th, and we’re hoping to see you there!

imag0850Now in it’s 18th year, the Mount Washington Radio/Vaughan Community Services Annual Food Drive showcases what living in the Mount Washington Valley is all about – community, goodwill, and service.  Held at the First Church of Christ in North Conway (just look for the inflatable turkey), this one-day, 12-hour event helps collect food for area food pantries benefiting those in need during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year. Many different pantries in the Greater Mount Washington Valley will see donations from the drive helping those less fortunate in their communities.

imag0855

How can you get involved? It’s easy! Just swing by the  First Church of Christ (2503 White Mountain Highway) with a non-perishable food item or even a monetary donation anytime from 6am-6pm…you don’t even need to get out of your car! Canned foods, spaghetti sauces, pasta, mac n’ cheese, peanut butter, muffin and cake mixes, crackers…these are just a few ideas and all will be accepted to go to a good cause. Household items are always welcomed too including toilet paper, paper towels and toothpaste. AND DON’T FORGET ABOUT THE FROZEN TURKEYS!

As always, Magic 104 will be live, on location broadcasting the entire day with a ton of help from our hourly sponsors. A very special “Thank You“ to those area businesses (below) for helping us make this event possible again this year!

2019 Food Drive Hourly Sponsors:

Leavitt’s Country Bakery

Chalmers Insurance Agency

Northeast Credit Union

North Conway Premier

White Mountains Community College

White Mountain Waldorf School

Vaughan Community Service, Inc. (VCS) was established in 1965 as a community outreach program for the First Church of Christ, Congregational in North Conway, New Hampshire, however there is no religious affiliation associated with the services provided including this event.

See you there!

Police made the announcement yesterday afternoon saying he was arrested without incident at the North Conway Irving Gas Station. They say he’s facing charges for two counts of Theft of a Motor and one count of Theft of a Firearm. Police had put out an announcement that they were looking for Cox this past Monday after he was suspected of being involved with several vehicle thefts from residencies in Conway, Tamworth, and Fryeburg over the past two weeks. Cox had allegedly stolen vehicles that were left unlocked with the keys in them. Authorities recommend residents lock the vehicles in the future.

Veterans Day Parade in Conway

Conway residents turned out to watch the procession of Veterans, a Humvee, the Kennett High school Marching Band, and Scouts as they made their way from John H. Fuller Elementary school to Schouler Park today. The ceremony in North Conway included a flag presented on an empty seat dedicated to those Prisoners of War or Missing in Action that remain unrecovered but never forgotten and a fitting volley-fire salute to taps. Prayers and comments from the American Legion were also part of the ceremony but the most notable part of all this year was perhaps the attendance of retired four-star Air Force General Lori Robison who previously headed up the United States Northern Command and NORAD among other commands.
