Dry River Hiker Injury

A New York hiker suffered a head injury while hiking in the Dry River Wilderness this past Saturday. New Hampshire Fish and Game say 58-year-old Denise Blank was hiking the Dry River Trail when she slipped down an embankment and injured her head around 10:30am. Lacking cell reception, a member of her group hiked three and a half miles to make a call for help. Conservation Officers, Bartlett Fire Department, SOLO Wilderness Medicine, Lakes Region Search and Rescue, the Appalachian Mountain Club, Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue and the US Forest Service all responded to the call. Denise was placed in a litter and carried back to the trailhead shortly before 7:00 in the evening. She was taken to Memorial Hospital by the Bartlett Jackson Ambulance. Authorities say Denise and her group were well prepared for the conditions.

Box Office Recap – 07/15/2019

‘AVENGERS: ENDGAME’ NEARS ‘AVATAR’S ALL-TIME BOX OFFICE RECORD – (07/15/2019)

Avengers: Endgame is headed toward complete box office dominance. The Disney and Marvel megahit snagged an additional $2 million at the B.O. this weekend, for a total of $2.78 billion worldwide, just $7.16 million behind Avatar’s all-time record of $2.788 billion.

Domestically, the blockbuster has nabbed $851 million; it has also had strong showings in China ($629 million), the United Kingdom ($114 million), Korea ($105 million), Brazil ($85 million) and Mexico ($77 million).

Observers think the 22nd film in the Marvel Universe, which bowed April 26th, has gotten a late-in-life boost in sales from Sony’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was positioned as a must-see sequel to Avengers: Endgame.

Spider-Man, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, meanwhile, topped the box office again, raking in $45.2 million, for a total global haul of about $850 million. Toy Story 4 slipped into second place with $20.66 million in sales, for a global tally of about $771 million.

‘SPIDER-MAN’ OWNS B.O. WITH RECORD-BUSTING $185M – (07/08/2019)

Sequels and franchises have been slumping this year, but Sony’s Spider-Man broke that pattern this weekend with Far From Home, starring Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal and Zendaya. Meanwhile, A24’s Midsommar delivered their best opener this year, landing just below the weekend top five list.

Far From Home topped the box office this weekend, entering the weekend with $91 million already in its coffers, and scooping up an additional $93.6 million for a total haul of $185 million over the long holiday. Far From Home take gauged the largest six-day opener for a Tuesday start and 22nd largest six-day opener of all time. The film is also popular with both critics, who gave it an “A” on CinemaScore and 8.1/10 IMDB user rating.

Disney’s Toy Story 4 moved to second place, bringing in an estimated $34.4 million, for a total domestic haul of $300 million. The House of Mouse’s Aladdin crossed the $900 million mark globally.
